Use these four adaptable Mandarin scripts to introduce yourself naturally in a client meeting, presentation, networking event or job interview.

Saying 我叫…… (wǒ jiào..., my name is...) is a good start, but a professional introduction may also need your role, experience and purpose. These four scripts cover situations beginners are likely to encounter.

1. Meeting a Client or Business Partner

For a first meeting, be polite and relationship-focused:

您好,我是Mark,来自XYZ公司。我主要负责欧洲市场。很高兴有机会和您合作。
Nín hǎo, wǒ shì Mark, láizì XYZ gōngsī. Wǒ zhǔyào fùzé Ōuzhōu shìchǎng. Hěn gāoxìng yǒu jīhuì hé nín hézuò.
Hello, I’m Mark from XYZ Company. I am mainly responsible for the European market. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with you.

Use 您 (nín) instead of 你 (nǐ) to show respect when meeting a client or senior colleague.

2. Opening a Formal Business Meeting

When opening a meeting, state your responsibility and purpose:

各位好,我是David,来自ABC公司。我负责欧洲区的销售业务。今天我想向各位介绍我们的新项目,并听听大家的意见。
Gèwèi hǎo, wǒ shì David, láizì ABC gōngsī. Wǒ fùzé Ōuzhōu qū de xiāoshòu yèwù. Jīntiān wǒ xiǎng xiàng gèwèi jièshào wǒmen de xīn xiàngmù, bìng tīngting dàjiā de yìjiàn.
Hello everyone, I’m David from ABC Company. I oversee sales in Europe. Today I would like to introduce our new project and hear your views.

✨ Did you know?
Changing only 你 to 您 can instantly make a Mandarin introduction sound more respectful.

3. Networking at an Industry Event

Networking language can be slightly more relaxed and open-ended:

大家好,我叫Anna,来自伦敦。我从事品牌营销工作,目前主要关注英国和亚洲市场。希望以后有机会交流。
Dàjiā hǎo, wǒ jiào Anna, láizì Lúndūn. Wǒ cóngshì pǐnpái yíngxiāo gōngzuò, mùqián zhǔyào guānzhù Yīngguó hé Yàzhōu shìchǎng. Xīwàng yǐhòu yǒu jīhuì jiāoliú.
Hello everyone, I’m Anna from London. I work in brand marketing and currently focus on the UK and Asian markets. I hope we can exchange ideas in the future.

4. A Chinese-Language Job Interview

In an interview, lead with relevant experience and strengths:

您好,我叫Sophie。我有六年的项目管理经验,之前主要在教育和科技行业工作。我擅长跨文化沟通,希望有机会把这些经验带到贵公司。
Nín hǎo, wǒ jiào Sophie. Wǒ yǒu liù nián de xiàngmù guǎnlǐ jīngyàn, zhīqián zhǔyào zài jiàoyù hé kējì hángyè gōngzuò. Wǒ shàncháng kuà wénhuà gōutōng, xīwàng yǒu jīhuì bǎ zhèxiē jīngyàn dài dào guì gōngsī.
Hello, I’m Sophie. I have six years of project-management experience, mainly in education and technology. I am skilled in cross-cultural communication and hope to bring this experience to your company.

Nín hǎo, wǒ shì James, láizì Yīngguó. Wǒ zhǔyào fùzé kèhù guānxi.

What Should a Learner Do?

Master one flexible structure: name, company, role, experience and purpose. Remove anything the situation does not need, and practise in short chunks.

A common mistake is translating a job title too literally. 我担任市场经理 often sounds more natural than 我是一个市场经理, while 我主要负责…… is usually clearer than a word-for-word translation.

Cultural Spotlight: UK-China Business Events

At industry events, you may meet several people quickly. The China-Britain Business Council runs events and supports organisations working between the UK and China. Prepare your networking version and one follow-up question before attending a similar event.

✨ Did you know?
Professional Mandarin introductions often mention responsibilities and purpose before detailed personal background, helping listeners understand your role quickly.

Final Takeaway

A strong business self-introduction in Chinese is not one fixed speech. Learn a simple structure, then adjust its formality and focus for the client, meeting, networking or interview situation in front of you.
